A fjord is a deep, narrow and elongated sea or lakedrain, with steep land on the sides.

The fjords were formed by glacier tongues that through several ice ages have shaped the landscape. A fjord is a U-shaped undersea valley, and this valley is often surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. In Hardanger some of the Glacier is still found on top of the mountains, the Folgefonna Glacier.  We reccomend a combined tour with Fjord Cruise and Glacier visit, this can be done in one day.

a beautiful landscape with snow-clad mountains, blue glaciers, deep gorges, cascading waterfalls and tiny fertile villages strung like glowing green pearls along the fjord line. This extraordinary landscape is today inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. We are ready to take you into the fjord all year around – as close to the nature as you can get!

the Western Norway region has some of the longest fjords in the World, with the

Hardanger Fjord (179 km).

When all you need is silence, visit a Fjord.

Places to visit

Norheimsund is the trade center in outer Hardanger, and has several shops and offers in most areas.

One of the most famous waterfalls in the country, the Steinsdalsfossen, is located in Norheimsund.

In 2013, Norheimsund won the state award for an attractive place.

This picture of our boat is outside Thon Hotel Sandven.

"a masterpiece of nature's work" wrote Charles Boilieu Elliott in 1830 about Ullensvang. After crossing the Hardangervidda plateau he stood at the top of the steep mountain side, looking down on the Hardangerfjord, the Folgefonna glacier, beautiful waterfalls and tiny villages and farms.

Unfortunately he could not go on a fjorcruise with us, but Since the arrival of the first tourist, many more have followed. The scenery and the local culture of the Hardangerfjord attracted many artists in the 19th and 20th centuries. Like composer Edvard Grieg, who was a guest in Ullensvang many summers, where he found inspiration to write music.

Ullensvang in Hardanger is still today an icon of nature and culture.

Pleasures in Eidfjord which provide a lifetime of memories.

Good days, active days, lazy days, exciting days, nature, culture and diversity.

This is some of what we promise you in Eidfjord. Here you’ll experience real local food mixed with culture and traditions, and hospitable people. You make your own choice whether you want an active outdoor life with nature experiences on the waterfront or in the mountains, the kingdom of the real mountain people. By the fjord you can enjoy the sun and go swimming.

Eidfjord is unique. Tempting. It takes you only 30 minutes to drive from the beautiful, warm Hardangerfjord to the wilderness at 1250 m of altitude on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. Here you come close to nature, the culture and the people. Real, fresh, diverse and generous nature. The waterfall Vøringsfossen have been one of the most attractive destinations for over 100 years.

Eidfjord is one hours lovely and quiet fjordcruise from Hotel Ullensvang

Bergen is the Gateway to the Fjords of Norway. As a UNESCO World Heritage City and a European City of Culture, the Bergen region has the ideal combination of nature, culture and exciting urban life all year around.

With its ideal location right in the heart of the Fjord Norway region, between the Hardangerfjord and the Sognefjord, it is the perfect starting point for day trips to one of the world’s biggest scenic attractions – the fjords. From Bergen you are real close to the spectacular fjord experiences.  In Bergen you can enjoy some of the finest seafood restaurants in Norway, and the best one, Cornelius is located on an island just outside the city, only accessible by boat or helicopter. We can cruise you there, and you will get a lovely fjordcruise combined with a great lunch or dinner.

Another very popular cruise from Bergen is the Modalen cruise, wich is normally done as a fullday cruise starting from city centre.  A private cruise only for you and your family, with fjords, waterfalls and time for a shore excursion with lunch up in the remote village of Modal.
